1. This biography delivers Einstein’s childhood, his nationality transition, what subject he devoted to and what effects his studies gave to the world. I can also get information about his chracteristics, his academic preferences, and his attitude to society.

 2. I think this biography leaves out some information about his parents, children, wives, detailed social activities and so on.

3. I think the style of this biography is informal and personal. The author seems to narrate Einstein’s life to readers just like he tells a story to the listeners. The author uses several personal quotations in the article. Because personal quotations are scarcely used in formal reports, I can infer from these quotation that this biography is very informal and personal.

4. This biography is organized in chronological order. It is composed of many small stories from Einstein’s birth in Germany to death in the United States. Funny thing is that it is also organized in order of importance. From the his mental retard, a gifted amateur violinist, a great physicist and finally a pacifist for humanbeing.

1. I think that the author provides us with the fact relating to Einstein such as his background, his nature and his achievements.

2. I could find few opinions of the author. Moreover, I couldn’t find evaluation about him and his achievement. In my opinion, luck of that information has an effect that this reading can introduce the facts objectively. Additionally, I could find only one author’s opinion at the end of the writing about Einstein’s consulting for the navy. I felt the author intended not to make audience concentrate on this part but to concentrate on the facts about his achievements, objectively.

3. I would say that this writing is formal and academic, because I think that the author keep sentences grammatically correct and there are many academic words.

4. I think that this biography is organized chronologically.

1. This biography gives me the background, academic life, and siganificant professional points of Einstein. It is interesting that when Einstein was child, he was speculated as a dyslexic but after he dead, he was considered the most intellgent person in the world.

2. In my opinion, this biography leaves out objective factors. Only tells readers about the key charactistics and points of the Einstein’s life. It has effect that makes readers totally trust what the quthor writes and what he wants to convey.

3. I would say this writing is academic style because its content just likes history article without any author’s opinion. The author uses simple and clear sentences to convey Einstein’s life.

4. It is organized cronologycally. The quthor write this biography from the childhood of Einstein to the job for Manhattan project during the World War Two.

Albert Einstein

1. A writer arranged the story in chronological order. Started with his childhood, studying, working and achievements, this story is easy to understand.

2. It does not show any emotions or idea from writer. Most of information are fact. In my opinion, an effect of this writing style is somehow not exciting. There is no passion along the line. However, if the reader has an eagerness to learn other people life or experience, this story is a good start. Since Albert Einstein was a genius man, learning his biography trigger me to fight for what I believe, or be stubborn.

3. I guess this writing is formal and academic style. Why? Compared to our prior readings, this one is the least passionate. Words and languages are full of facts. Importantly, those facts are very useful.

4. The writing is organized in steps or in order. To be honest, I do not foud of this kind of writing. It remind me reading textbook. Moreover, I am not familiar with sciencific terms.

1. The biography gives information about the academic and professional life of Einstein.

2. The biography leaves out information about the personal life of Einstein.  I think that this makes the biography incomplete, because biographys are about all your life, but actualy, is kind of helpfull for those who just need or want to know about his professional life: how he became becames so important for physics.  Is a good summarize in that aspect.

3. I think this reading has an academic style.  The author is explaining something clearly, with the correct terminology but not so technical.

4.  This biography is organized in a cronologycal way.  The author use the dates of importand and sigificant events in the professional life of Einstein.

1.This writing gives us information of Einstein’s life chronologically. We know where he was born, how he was when he was young and how he learned physics. We also understand his accomplishments and reaction to them and their effects.

2.The author wrote Einstein’s biography quite objectively. I can not imagine what the author thinks about Einstein because this writing is mostly based on facts. I would like to know about Einstein’s personal life style that is not addressed here.

3.I think the style of this writing is quite formal, academic and informative. As I said in the previous response, it is very objective. That’s why I think this sounds formal and academic. Some terms on his theory are difficult to understand. But in this writing, the author gives us simple explanation or definition.  It helps us understand them.

4.As I mentioned in response #1, the writing adopted chronological description. This structure helps us understand how he grew up ore what he did. It is difficult to understand what the author wanted us to read most or main point.

Bye.

Comments are appreciated.

1.This article tells me Einstein’s background. I can find from this biography when and where he was born, how his childhood was, how he grew up, and so on. Even though I of course had known his name and his achievements, I first heard that he was dyslexic in his childhood. Also, the reason he got interested in Physics is really interesting. If he had not got job of a technical assistant in Bern, he might not have invented his great theory. Or, if he had not been dyslexic but just a bright student, he would become a politician or something, I think. I might not well understand his theory itself; however, I can easily understand his background from detailed information of this article.

2.I find this article leaves out the author’s subjective opinion. The author gives us only facts. So, I can easily figure out this article’s content without confusion.

3. I think this writing style is very formal, because there are no sentence-frangments and colloquial expression. I often find this type of writing style in History textbooks. I like to learn History, because there are a lot of new discoveries for me. Therefore, I can more easily read and enjoy this writing than any other articles that we ever read from Tapestry.

4. This biography is organized chronologically. I think this chronological style is very basic and popular style in biography. This style directly leads me to the contents.

See you tomorrow, and enjoy Field Trip!

My learning style for English – Sky June 28, 2006

My favorite learning style is visual and kinesthetic learning. I usually connect some images to things that I have to remember while I repeat connecting. I try to remember a person by connecting one of his characteristics to his name. For example, when I met Samuel in the class I could remember him with ease. I thought that his image is like that of the American Movie star, Samuel Jackson. Once I had a contact with someone, I often keep a touch with them to learn more about them. To keep relationship, I try to make an event. Inviting them, playing games with them and asking their opinions are my usual activities to learn.

My learning style could be applied to my English. I think that my speaking and reading are not that bad but my listen is horrible. This is probably the consequence of my learning style. I prefer visual and kinesthetic learning style but to be good at English I need to focus on the auditory style of learning. Sometimes I compare a language to a four-wheeled car. The reason of my metaphor is that we cannot improve our English without fousing on the four aspects (reading, speaking, writing and listening) just like a car cannot go if it has a flat tire. A language is a product of our five senses’ activities. I want to have an auditory, visual and kinesthetic style of learning English.

Ahmed’s preference in learning style June 28, 2006

I think that I prefer the technique which combines visual and auditory learning. I remember when I was a little boy, I used to remember eveything ehch is related with pictures or shapes. That’s mainly why I used to like math more than other subjects, since there are always new shapes in every class. Also, one of the things that I cannot forget, I used to love English courses after the ABC song. I’m not the type of guy who walks around the room while studying. In fact, I find this style is distracting aand illusional to me. However, I cannot study in the presence of other students, specially if we were stuying the same subject, or studying for the same exam. In this case, I keen on playing more than studying, and after a while, I gradually start to stop studying until the day is finished and I ended up with nothing useful. This senario takes place whenever I try to study with anyone.

I like visual and kinesthetic learning very much.  I tend to forget what I hear.  But, I remember things learnt through the physical activity well.  I believe that what I can do without thinking is the real ability.  For example, I played table tennis in my university days.  I swung my racket over several thousand times to shoot a good shot.  I could made good shot in the very situation that will make people strained, contrary to the fact that the service that I seldom practices led to worth results in such situation.  In addition, I often read the books that instruct the skills and it enhanced my skill to improve.  I believe that repeating viewing and practicing is effective in learning. But, I also agree to the opinion that other style of learning may be useful in some cases.
